Walking the Slí Cholmcille Trail

Walking The Trail

The seven Slí Cholmcille mapped walks cross a variety of stunning terrain – bog roads & forest paths, to quiet county lanes, scenic glens, lakes, rivers and coast.

Each offers an opportunity to awaken the senses in this unique place of welcome, tradition, and peace.

It can be done in any order but many walkers have enjoyed completing it in the suggested map order – starting in Glencolumcille village and finishing in Gartan – the historic birthplace of St Colmcille.

Please be advised the Slí routes are often over uneven terrain, mountain tracks and hills, which requires a moderate level of fitness and mobility to complete safely.

Also:

  • Always check weather in advance
  • Wear suitable clothing & footwear
  • Bring adequate water & food
  • Don’t forget insect repellent & suncream!
